Hany Guda Ramzy is an Egyptian football coach and a former player. He was born on March 10, 1969. Hany Ramzy played as a defender, often in the centre of the field.

Early Life and Football Start

Hany Ramzy was born in Cairo, Egypt. He has one sister named Miriam.

He started playing football when he was just 10 years old. A scout from a club called Tersana wanted him to join their youth team. However, Hany's father, who was a big fan of Al Ahly, wanted his son to play for Al Ahly instead.

So, Hany's father and uncle took him to Al Ahly. A coach there, Captain Mustafa Hussein, saw his talent and put him in the club's youth team. Hany quickly moved up and even joined the youth national team before he was 17.

Hany Ramzy's Playing Career

Even though he was very young, Hany Ramzy was so good that he earned a spot on Al Ahly's main team. He was also chosen for the Egyptian National Team that went to the World Cup in Italy in 1990. This was a huge step for the 20-year-old player. Soon after, he became the youngest Egyptian player to play professionally abroad.

Playing in Europe

In 1990, Hany Ramzy began his professional career in Europe with a Swiss club called Neuchâtel Xamax. He played as a centre-half, which is a type of defender. The Swiss media gave him the nickname "The Rock" because of how strong and reliable he was in defense.

In the summer of 1994, Hany Ramzy made history. He became the first Egyptian player to join the Bundesliga, which is Germany's top football league. He joined SV Werder Bremen for $1.5 million. This made him the most expensive Egyptian player at that time.

After the 1998 African Cup of Nations, Ramzy moved to another German club, 1. FC Kaiserslautern. He joined with another Egyptian player, Samir Kamouna, and wore the number 6 jersey. Hany Ramzy became very well-known at Kaiserslautern. It was unusual for a defender, but he scored 12 goals for the team!

However, in April 2003, he got a serious knee injury. This injury kept him from playing for two seasons until his contract ended. After Kaiserslautern released him, Hany Ramzy signed with 1. FC Saarbrücken, a club in Germany's second division, on October 19, 2005.

Hany Ramzy's Coaching Career

While he was recovering from his knee injury, Hany Ramzy started taking classes about coaching in Berlin. He decided that he wanted to become a football manager after he stopped playing. So, he began working as a coach for Kaiserslautern's youth team.

Coaching in Egypt

Later, Hany Ramzy returned to Egypt. He became an assistant coach for German coach Rainer Zobel at ENPPI. In January 2007, the club decided to make Hany Ramzy the head coach for the rest of the season. He said it was a big responsibility and a great chance for young Egyptian coaches.

After the 2006–07 season, Hany Ramzy went back to being an assistant coach at ENPPI.

In September 2008, Hany Ramzy took another step in his coaching journey. He became the assistant manager for the Egyptian under-20 national team. A year later, he became their head coach. In December 2009, it was announced that he had signed a two-year contract to manage the Egyptian under-23 team.
