Hany Guda Ramzy (born March 10, 1969) is a famous Egyptian football coach and a former defender. He was known for his strong play on the field.

Early Life and Football Beginnings

Hany Ramzy was born in Cairo, Egypt. He started playing football when he was only 10 years old. A scout from another club wanted him to join their youth team. However, Hany's father, Guda Ramzy, was a big fan of Al Ahly club. He wanted Hany to play for Al Ahly instead.

So, Hany's father and uncle took him to Al Ahly. A coach named Captain Mustafa Hussein saw him play. He decided to let Hany join Al Ahly's youth club. Hany quickly improved and joined the Egyptian youth national team before he was 17.

Hany Ramzy's Professional Playing Career

Even though Hany was young, he was very talented. He earned a spot on Al Ahly's main team. His skills also caught the eye of Mahmoud El-Gohary, the coach of the Egyptian National Team. El-Gohary chose Hany for the World Cup trip to Italy. This was a huge step for Hany, who was only 20 years old. He soon became the youngest Egyptian player to play professionally abroad.

Playing in Switzerland and Germany

In 1990, Hany began his professional journey with a Swiss club called Neuchâtel Xamax. He played as a centre-half, a defensive position. The Swiss media gave him the nickname "The Rock" because of his strong and reliable play.

In 1994, Hany Ramzy made history. He became the first Egyptian player to join the Bundesliga, Germany's top football league. He joined SV Werder Bremen for a transfer fee of $1.5 million. This made him the most expensive Egyptian player at that time.

After the 1998 African Cup of Nations, Hany moved to another German club, 1. FC Kaiserslautern. He played alongside another Egyptian player, Samir Kamouna. Hany was very popular at Kaiserslautern. He even scored 12 goals while playing as a defender! However, in April 2003, he got a serious knee injury. He spent two seasons recovering until his contract ended.

After leaving Kaiserslautern, Hany signed with 1. FC Saarbrücken in 2005.

Transition to Coaching

While recovering from his knee injury, Hany Ramzy started learning about coaching in Berlin. He decided he wanted to become a manager after he stopped playing. So, he began working as part of the coaching staff for Kaiserslautern's youth team.

Coaching in Egypt and Beyond

Hany later returned to Egypt. He became an assistant coach for German coach Rainer Zobel at ENPPI. In January 2007, Hany took over as head coach for ENPPI until the end of the season. He said it was a big responsibility and a good chance for young Egyptian managers.

After the 2006–07 season, Hany went back to being an assistant coach. Later, in 2008, he became the assistant manager for the Egyptian under-20 team. A year later, he became their head coach. In 2009, Hany signed a two-year contract to manage the Egyptian under-23 team.
