Harrison is a small community in Madison County, Montana, in the United States. It's called a "census-designated place" (CDP) because it's a recognized area for counting people, even though it doesn't have its own city government.

In 2020, about 105 people lived in Harrison. This number was a bit lower than in 2010, when 137 people lived there.

History of Harrison

Harrison started out as a place called "Ferguson." It was a stop for stagecoaches traveling to Virginia City.

In 1889, the Northern Pacific Railroad built a train line through the area. Later, the community was renamed Harrison. It was named after an early settler in the area, Henry C. Harrison.

Geography and Location

Harrison is located in the northeastern part of Madison County. You can find it at these coordinates: 45°42′9″N 111°47′7″W / 45.70250°N 111.78528°W / 45.70250; -111.78528.

U.S. Route 287 goes right through the town. If you drive northeast on this road, you'll reach Three Forks in about 20 miles. If you go south, you'll get to Ennis in about 26 miles.

A place called Willow Creek Reservoir is located about 4 miles east of Harrison.

The community covers an area of about 0.18 square miles (0.45 square kilometers). All of this area is land. Harrison is situated between two smaller streams, North Willow Creek and South Willow Creek. These streams join together to form Willow Creek, which then flows into the Jefferson River.
