History of Hartman
When Was Hartman Founded?
Hartman got its first post office in 1908. This is how mail was sent and received back then. The town was named after W. P. Hartman. He was an important official for the railroad company.
Hartman's Historic Gymnasium
The town has one special historic building. This is the old Hartman Gymnasium, built around 1938. It was part of the "New Deal" programs. These programs helped people find jobs during the Great Depression. The gymnasium is the only building in Hartman built by the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The WPA was a big part of the New Deal.
This gymnasium is still used today as a community center. It helps bring people together in Hartman.
