Hatfield is a small place in the United States that isn't officially a city or town. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it doesn't have its own local government like a mayor or city council. Instead, it's looked after by the larger county governments around it. What makes Hatfield special is that it sits right on the border between two states: California and Oregon.
Hatfield is located in both Siskiyou County, California, and Klamath County, Oregon. It's a unique spot where three important roads meet: Oregon Route 39, California State Route 161, and California State Route 139. All these roads end at a four-way intersection right in the middle of Hatfield. The Lost River also flows through this community.
Hatfield is about 3.6 miles (5.8 km) northwest of Tulelake, California. It's also about 4.6 miles (7.4 km) east-southeast of Merrill, Oregon. Its location near the border and where major roads meet makes it a notable point on the map.
