The Havering Museum is a cool local museum in Romford, London. It's all about the history and cool stuff from the five main towns in the Havering area. You can find it inside what used to be the old Ind Coope Romford Brewery. This makes it a special reminder of Romford's past as a brewing town. The museum is run completely by amazing volunteers and gets all its money from donations and its own activities.

How the Museum Began

The idea for the Havering Museum started with a local historian named Ian Wilkes. In 2000, he created a group called "Friends Of Havering Museum." Thanks to lots of hard work from local people, the project grew. In 2008, they teamed up with the London Borough of Havering. They also received a special grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The museum finally opened its doors in May 2010.

Our Amazing Volunteers

The Havering Museum runs thanks to a core team of about 30 volunteers. These dedicated people help in many different ways. They work with the museum's collections and help with educational programs. They also welcome visitors at the front desk and handle administrative tasks. Interns also join the team. They help with daily tasks and special projects.

What You Can Find at the Museum

Learning and Exhibition Spaces

The museum has two special rooms at opposite ends of the building. One is called the Learning Zone. The other is The Exhibition Room. These spaces are used by schools and other groups in the community. They are perfect for workshops and special events.
