Haynes is a small city in Adams County, North Dakota, United States. In 2020, only 15 people lived there. It is located in the southwestern part of North Dakota.

A Look at Haynes' History

Haynes was first started in 1906. It was originally called Gadsden. The city grew along a major train line called the Milwaukee Road. This line was part of a big project known as the Pacific Extension, which connected different parts of the country by train.

In 1907, the city's name was changed to Haynes. This was done to honor George B. Haynes. He was the president of the Milwaukee Road train company at that time.

Haynes is found in North Dakota, a state in the northern United States. It is located just north of the Grand River National Grassland. This is a large area of protected grasslands.

The number of people living in Haynes has changed a lot over the years. In 1920, there were 113 people. The population grew to 210 by 1940. However, since then, the number of residents has slowly decreased.
