Haynes is a suburb in Perth, Western Australia. It's part of the City of Armadale. Haynes used to be mostly countryside. But in the 2010s, it started to have more houses and buildings.

How Haynes Got Its Name

Haynes is named after Walter Alexander Birrell Haynes and his wife Margaret. They moved to the area before 1910. The couple ran a dairy farm there for many years.

The Haynes family helped the local community a lot. They supported sports clubs and started other groups. Walter Haynes was even the leader of the local council, called the Armadale-Kelmscott Road Board, from 1938 to 1946.

The area officially became known as Haynes on April 1, 2008. Before that, it was part of Brookdale.

Local Shopping

There is a place called the Haynes Shopping Centre. It is named after the suburb of Haynes. However, this shopping centre is actually located in the nearby area of Armadale.
