Hazel is a small place in Snohomish County, Washington. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it is not an official town or city with its own local government. Instead, it is part of the larger county area.
History of Hazel
Before people from Europe settled in this area, the Stillaguamish lived here. They are a Native American tribe. They had a village right across the river from where Hazel is now. This village was on the banks of the north fork of the Stillaguamish River. It had two big winter houses. About 150 to 200 people lived there.
Later, in 1903, a post office was opened in Hazel. It helped people send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years, until 1927. The community of Hazel got its name from the daughter of one of the very first settlers in the area.
