A Look Back at Hazelmere's Past
Hazelmere has an interesting history! It was once part of a very large piece of land. This land was given to Captain James Stirling way back in 1829.
How Hazelmere Got Its Name
Later, in 1883, a person from Guildford bought this land. They decided to divide it into smaller sections. One of these new sections was named Hazelmere. It got its name from a town in England called Haslemere, which is near Guildford, Surrey.
What Hazelmere Looks Like Today
Hazelmere used to be mostly open countryside between the towns of Midland and the airport. Now, it's a mix of different areas. You'll find homes in the part closer to Guildford. The middle section still has some rural land. And towards the east, there are areas used for businesses and industries.
