Hazelwood is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri. It is part of the larger Greater St. Louis area. Hazelwood is located just north of the St. Louis-Lambert International Airport. Major highways like Interstate 270 and Interstate 170 run through or near the city. According to the 2020 United States census, about 25,485 people live there.

Hazelwood is part of the Hazelwood public school district. The city has one high school, Hazelwood West. There is also Hazelwood West Middle School. Several elementary schools, like McNair, Russell, and Garrett, are located in the city. Hazelwood also has an Early Childhood Education Center for younger children.
In addition to public schools, there are private schools in Hazelwood. These include Alphabet Soup Academy, Asa Christian Academy, Blossom Wood Day School, and Oak Bridge. Gateway Legacy Christian Academy, an international boarding school, is also in Hazelwood. It welcomes students from over 30 countries.
Public Libraries
The St. Louis County Library system has a branch in Hazelwood. It is called the Prairie Commons Branch. This library offers books, resources, and programs for everyone in the community.
Economy
Hazelwood is an important center for businesses. Its location near Interstate 270 and St. Louis-Lambert International Airport makes it a great spot for companies. Many businesses involved in manufacturing, distribution, and offices are located here. In 2015, there were 17,063 jobs in the city.
A large Ford plant used to be in Hazelwood. It operated from 1948 until 2006. The area where the plant once stood is now being turned into a new business area called Aviator Business Park. Another large industrial area, Hazelwood Logistics Center, has also grown. It has 1.8 million square feet of space for businesses. This park is expected to create 1,800 jobs. TradePort is another big industrial park being built. It will have up to 4 million square feet of new industrial buildings.
Hazelwood is also home to the main office of Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. Several facilities for the aerospace company Boeing are also located here.
