The Story of Healthy Choice
The idea for Healthy Choice came about in a very personal way. In 1985, the CEO of ConAgra, Charles "Mike" Harper, had a health scare. His doctors told him he needed to change his diet and eat healthier foods.
This experience gave him an idea. He realized there should be a line of frozen foods that were not only quick and easy to make but also good for you. This led to the creation of the Healthy Choice brand, which was launched in 1989.
A Fresh New Look in 2009
In April 2009, ConAgra decided to give Healthy Choice a big update. They introduced new products and changed the packaging to give it a more modern look.
To let everyone know about the changes, the company started a huge advertising campaign. These ads featured the famous actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus and were directed by Christopher Guest.
The Man Who Earned a Million Miles
Healthy Choice once had a promotion that led to an amazing story. A man named David Phillips discovered that he could earn a large number of frequent flyer miles by buying Healthy Choice products.
He bought many items, especially pudding cups, and collected over a million miles. That's enough to fly around the world many times! This true story was so interesting that it later inspired a part of a movie.
