Ancient History at Healy Lake
Healy Lake Village is a very old site. It is located on the northeast shore of Healy Lake. This area is about 124 miles (200 kilometers) southeast of Fairbanks and 31 miles (50 kilometers) east of Delta Junction. It is also close to the Tanana River and the Healy River.
Scientists have found ancient tools and other items in this area. These discoveries show that people have lived here for a very long time, possibly as far back as 11,000 years ago! This makes it an important place for understanding early human life in Alaska.
