Heby Municipality (Heby kommun) is a special area in Uppsala County, located in east-central Sweden. It's like a local government area. The main town, or "seat," where the local government offices are, is called Heby.
The first Heby Municipality was created in 1952. This happened during a big change in Sweden when many smaller local areas joined together. The name "Heby" came from the town of Heby, which had been a special kind of borough since 1887. Later, in 1971, three more areas joined the municipality.
Geography
The Dalälven River forms the northern edge of Heby Municipality. This area also has large forests. These forests are home to many cool animals. You might find elk, deer, fox, bear, and even lynx living there.

Heby Municipality used to be part of Västmanland County. This county is next to Uppsala County. In the late 1990s, people in Heby wanted to join Uppsala County instead. They worked hard to make this happen. In 1998, they even had a local vote, and most people agreed to change counties.
Finally, in September 2005, it was decided that Heby Municipality could join Uppsala County. This change officially happened on January 1, 2007. Even though most people wanted the change, some people did not agree with it.
