Hedgehope Hill: A Great Place to Explore
Hedgehope Hill stands tall at 714 metres (2,343 ft) (that's about 2,343 feet (714 m)!). It's only about 3 miles (4.8 km) away from the border with Scotland. This makes it a fantastic spot for adventurers who love hiking and exploring the outdoors.
How to Climb Hedgehope Hill
If you're thinking about climbing Hedgehope Hill, there are a few ways to do it.
- From Langleeford: One of the best ways to start your climb is from a place called Langleeford. This is in the Harthope Valley, and Hedgehope Hill looks huge from there! You can get to the Harthope Valley by taking a small road from near Wooler, which is to the northeast. This route can be quite steep, so it's best for hikers who are pretty fit.
- From Linhope: Another option is to start from Linhope in the Breamish valley. You'd approach from the southeast. This climb is a bit gentler, but it's also a longer walk.
- Combining Peaks: For a really big adventure, some people choose to climb both the Cheviot (which is even taller!) and Hedgehope Hill in one long day. You could start and finish this challenging hike at Langleeford.
No matter which way you choose, climbing Hedgehope Hill is a good workout! The steepest parts don't last too long, but they are quite a challenge.
Amazing Views from the Top
Even though Hedgehope Hill isn't as tall as the Cheviot, it has much steeper sides. This means it offers some truly amazing views in every direction! On a clear day, you can see really far. You might even be able to spot Blyth along the coastline, which is about 40 miles (64 km) away! Imagine seeing that far!
