The Henares (pronounced "eh-NAH-res") is a river in Spain. It is a tributary of the Jarama River. This means the Henares flows into the Jarama. The Henares River starts in the Sierra Ministra mountains. This is near a village called Horna, in the province of Guadalajara.
The Henares River's Journey
The Henares River is about 160 kilometers (100 miles) long. It begins high up in the mountains. Its source is about 1,220 meters (4,000 feet) above sea level. From there, it flows through different areas. Finally, it joins the Jarama River.
