Where the River Starts and Flows
The Henry Fork river begins near Propst Mountain in Burke County, North Carolina. This is where the water first gathers to form the river.
From its start, the river flows generally towards the northeast. It then turns and flows southeast. Finally, it meets up with the Jacob Fork river to form the South Fork Catawba River. This meeting point is about 3 miles southwest of a place called Startown.
