Herbeumont (pronounced like "Erb-uh-mont") is a small town in Belgium. It is located in the Wallonia region, which is in the southern part of the country. Herbeumont is part of the province of Luxembourg.
As of January 1, 2007, Herbeumont covered an area of about 58.81 square kilometers (22.7 square miles). Around 1,536 people lived there at that time. This means there were about 26 people living in each square kilometer.
The municipality of Herbeumont includes a few smaller villages. These are Herbeumont itself, Saint-Médard, and Straimont. Other small communities in the area are Gribomont, Martilly, and Menugoutte.

Jean-Nicolas Perlot
One notable person from Herbeumont was Jean-Nicolas Perlot. He was born in Herbeumont in 1823. Perlot became a famous adventurer. He took part in the exciting California Gold Rush. This was a time in the 1800s when many people traveled to California to search for gold. Jean-Nicolas Perlot passed away in 1900.
