Herston is a small village located on the island of South Ronaldsay in the Orkney Islands, Scotland. It is part of the United Kingdom. This quiet village is known for its beautiful views. It overlooks Widewall Bay.
What is Herston Like?
Herston was once a busy fishing village. Today, its main business is Herston Stained Glass. This company creates beautiful art using colored glass. A place called Herston Hikers Hostel used to be here. It offered a place for walkers to stay. However, it is no longer open.
Herston in Music
Herston has even been featured in a famous music video! The popular 1980s band Eurythmics filmed part of their song "Here Comes the Rain Again" here. They used the wreck of an old ship called the Monarch. This ship was from World War I. World War I was a very big global conflict that happened between 1914 and 1918.
