How to Play Hey You, Pikachu!

This game lets you talk directly to Pikachu, who is the main character! To do this, you use a special microphone called the Voice Recognition Unit. This microphone plugs into your Nintendo 64 controller. It helps the game understand what you say.

You talk to Pikachu to complete different tasks in the game. You can also pick up and use various items. The main goal is to become good friends with a wild Pikachu.

Befriending Your Pikachu

In the game, you use a special device created by Professor Oak. This device helps you make friends with wild Pokémon. As you play and talk to Pikachu, it will start to trust you. Eventually, Pikachu will even come to live in your house!

There are three different types of activity days in the game. Each day has a unique goal for you and Pikachu to achieve together. You get to keep Pikachu for 365 days. After a whole year, Pikachu is released back into the wild.
