Hieracium nudicaule is a type of plant found in North America. It belongs to the dandelion family, which is part of the larger sunflower family.
You can find this plant mainly in the western United States, especially in California and Oregon. A few can also be seen in Washington and northern Idaho.
What is Hieracium nudicaule?
This plant is a type of herb that can grow up to 50 cm (20 in) (about 20 inches) tall. It has leaves both on its main stem and in a special circle called a rosette at the bottom.
These leaves can be up to 120 mm (4.7 in) (about 5 inches) long. Sometimes they have small teeth on their edges.
Its Flowers
Each plant can have 2 to 12 flower heads. These heads grow in a flat-topped group. Every flower head has 20 to 40 bright yellow 'ray flowers'. These are like the petals you see on a daisy. However, this plant does not have 'disc flowers', which are the tiny flowers usually found in the center of a daisy or sunflower.
