What are Hierodoris Moths?
Hierodoris moths are small, flying insects. They are part of the huge group of animals called Arthropods. Like all moths, they have wings covered in tiny scales. They go through a life cycle that includes an egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa, and adult moth.

All known Hierodoris moths live only in New Zealand. This makes them an endemic group. This means they are found nowhere else in the world. New Zealand has many unique plants and animals. These moths are a cool example of that special wildlife.
