Hinckley is a small town in Millard County, Utah, in the middle of a desert called the Sevier Desert. Even though it's in a desert, people can farm there because of water from the Sevier River. This river helps turn the dry land into a green farming area. You can see mountains far away, but close to Hinckley, it's mostly flat desert. In 2020, about 614 people lived in Hinckley.

History of Hinckley
Hinckley was first settled by a person named Erastus F. Pack. The area was once part of a larger church community called the Deseret Ward. In 1891, this community was divided. The new area became known as the Hinckley Ward, named after Ira N. Hinckley. Thomas George Theobald helped plan the town. He divided it into 14 sections, each about 5 acres in size.
Airplane Crash Near Hinckley
On August 1, 1944, a B-24D Liberator Bomber airplane was on a training flight. It crash-landed west of Hinckley. Luckily, the crew had already jumped out of the plane near Eureka, Nevada, before it crashed.
Geography and Climate
According to the United States Census Bureau, Hinckley covers about 5.0 square miles (13.0 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the town limits.
