Hisham Zreiq (born February 9, 1968), also known as Zrake, is a talented artist and filmmaker from Israel. He is known for his work as a director, poet, animator, and visual artist. Hisham started creating computer art in 1994 and began showing his work in galleries and museums by 1996.
In 2007, he made his first documentary film, The Sons of Eilaboun. This film tells an important story. In 2008, he created a short film called Just Another Day. This movie explored the lives of Arabs living in Western countries after the September 11 attacks. Hisham often uses his poetry and visual art in his films. In 2018, he helped write a book called An Oral History of the Palestinian Nakba. He based his chapter on interviews from his documentary The Sons of Eilaboun. In 2022, he finished an animated short film called Don't Cry, which won over 30 awards! In 2023, he also started a music project called 'Goddess Asherah'.

Early Life and Education
Hisham Zreiq was born and grew up in Nazareth, a city in Israel. His mother, Lydia Zreiq, was an elementary school teacher. His father, Salem Zreiq, taught history in high school. Both of his parents were Palestinian Eastern Orthodox Christians.
Hisham studied computer science and mathematics. He also works as a software architect, which means he designs computer programs. In March 2001, he moved to Germany, where he lives and works today.
Filmmaking Journey
Hisham Zreiq began making films in 2006. His first film was the documentary The Sons of Eilaboun. This film won the Al-Awda Award in Palestine. After that, he made the short fiction film Just Another Day in 2009. This movie looked at the lives of Arabs in the Western world after the September 11 attacks.
In 2010 and 2011, Hisham produced another short film called Before you is the Sea. This film was a love story between a Jewish woman and a Palestinian man. It explored ideas about the Middle East peace process. In 2021, Hisham finished his short animated film Don't Cry. This film was chosen to be shown at the 18th Al Ard Film Festival.

Awards and Recognition
Hisham Zreiq has received many awards and honors for his work. In 2004, he won the "Kunst- und Förderpreis Sparkasse Bayreuth" award in Germany. His art was shown at the Kunst & Museum Hollfeld.
After his first film, The Sons of Eilaboun, was shown in Nazareth, Hisham was honored by the mayor of Nazareth, Ramiz Jaraisy. He was also honored by Dr. Hana Sweid, a politician from Eilaboun. Mayor Jaraisy said the film was very important because it told the Palestinian story. Hisham's film won the Al-Awda award in Palestine in 2008. In April 2012, he was chosen as the artist of the month by This Week in Palestine magazine.
Some of Hisham Zreiq's artworks were also featured in a book called Creative Minds by ArtWanted.com. His animated short film Don't Cry has won more than 30 awards from film festivals around the world.

Other Activities
Besides filmmaking, Hisham Zreiq is also a software architect. He learned his skills in Israel at the Technion and Haifa University. He worked for almost 10 years in Israeli hi-tech companies.
Hisham also wrote a chapter for a history book called An Oral History of the Palestinian Nakba. This chapter was based on the interviews he did for his documentary film, The Sons of Eilaboun.
