Hogan Phillip Ephraim (born March 31, 1988) is a former English football player. He was known for playing as a winger or forward. Hogan grew up learning football at the famous West Ham United academy. He also played for England's Under-19 national team. He made more than 100 appearances for Queen's Park Rangers.

Early Life and Beginnings

Hogan Ephraim was born in Archway, London, on March 31, 1988. He went to Highbury Grove School from 1999 to 2004. He lived in Highbury, North London.

Playing for Clubs

West Ham United Days

Hogan joined West Ham as a young player in July 2004. He played his first game for the senior team in September 2005. This was during a League Cup match against Sheffield Wednesday.

In November 2006, he joined Colchester United on a short loan. He was excited to play in the Championship league. He stayed with Colchester until the end of the season. He played 21 games and scored one goal for them.

In August 2007, he went on loan to Queens Park Rangers (QPR). The QPR manager, John Gregory, said Hogan was very skilled. He could play on both the right and left sides of the midfield. Hogan played 13 league games for QPR and scored two goals before returning to West Ham in November 2007.

Time with Queens Park Rangers

Hogan officially joined Queens Park Rangers on January 2, 2008. He signed a contract for three and a half years. He felt it was a great time to be at QPR because the new owners had big plans.

Hogan became a regular player as QPR worked to get promoted. He scored 3 goals during the 2010-2011 season. QPR then moved up to the Premier League. However, many new players joined the team, which meant Hogan had fewer chances to play.

Other Teams and Loans

Hogan also went on several loan spells to other clubs.

  • In November 2009, he joined Football League One team Leeds United on loan. He played his first game for Leeds in December. He scored his first goal for Leeds in a Football League Trophy match against Accrington Stanley. He returned to QPR in January 2010.
  • In November 2011, he went on loan to Charlton Athletic.
  • In March 2012, Hogan joined Bristol City on loan. He scored a goal in his very first game for them.
  • In February 2013, he moved to Toronto FC in Canada on loan. He played 11 games for them before his loan ended in June 2013.
  • In November 2013, he joined Peterborough United on loan. He played 11 games for them in total.

Hogan was released by QPR on July 1, 2014.

Wycombe Wanderers and Whitehawk

On October 28, 2014, Hogan signed with League Two team Wycombe Wanderers. He made his debut in November 2014. He played in the Football League Two play-off final at Wembley for Wycombe. After that, he decided not to sign a new contract and left the club.

After not having a club for some time, Hogan joined Whitehawk in March 2017. This team plays in the National League South.

Representing England

Hogan Ephraim played for England at different youth levels. He represented the country in the Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, and Under-19 teams. He scored four goals in an England Under-17 match against Russia. He also scored two goals in three games during the UEFA European Championships in May 2005.
