History of Holliday
Holliday was officially set up in 1877. It was named after Thompson Holliday, who was a local business owner. A post office has been open in Holliday since 1873.
Near the village, you can find the Holliday Petroglyphs. These are ancient rock carvings. They were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 because they are very important historical sites.
Geography and Location
Holliday is in the western part of Monroe County. It is about 1 mile north of U.S. Route 24 on State Highway A.
- Paris, which is the main town of Monroe County, is about 7 miles east on US 24.
- Moberly is about 18 miles to the west.
