Keith Hollis Thompson II (born April 3, 1991) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for Al-Nasr Benghazi in the Libyan Division I Basketball League. Hollis also played college basketball for Georgetown University. He spent time in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Pelicans. In total, he played 265 games in the NBA.

Hollis Thompson's Early Life and High School Career

Hollis Thompson went to Loyola High School in Los Angeles, California. During his junior year (2007–08), he was a star player. He averaged 18.6 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. Because of his great performance, he was named the league's most valuable player. Experts at Rivals.com thought he was a top player. They ranked him as the 12th best small forward in the nation in 2009.

College Basketball Journey

In January 2009, Thompson started at Georgetown University. He practiced with the basketball team during his first semester. Over his three years playing for Georgetown, he was a strong player. He averaged 8.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. He also set a school record for three-point shooting, making 44.0% of his shots. In the 2011–12 season, he was recognized for his skills. He earned "All-Big East Honorable Mention" honors. This means he was one of the best players in his college conference. He scored double figures in 25 games that season.

Professional Basketball Career

Starting with the Tulsa 66ers (2012–2013)

After college, Hollis Thompson was not chosen in the 2012 NBA draft. However, he signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in July 2012. He played in three preseason games for them. The Thunder later decided to let him go in October 2012. A few days later, he joined the Tulsa 66ers. This team is part of the NBA Development League. He played 51 games for Tulsa in the 2012–13 season. He averaged 8.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

Time with the Philadelphia 76ers (2013–2017)

In July 2013, Thompson played for the San Antonio Spurs in the 2013 NBA Summer League. He then signed with the Philadelphia 76ers in September 2013. He quickly became an important player for the 76ers. He was known for his strong defense and his ability to make three-point shots. He became a regular starter as a small forward during the second half of the 2013–14 season. On April 5, he scored a career-high 18 points against the Brooklyn Nets. He made six three-pointers in that game. He finished the season as the best rookie in three-point shooting, making 40.1% of his shots.

In July 2014, Thompson helped the 76ers win the Orlando Summer League championship. On December 13, 2014, he tied his career high with 21 points against the Memphis Grizzlies. He then set a new career high with 23 points on February 3, 2015, in a win over the Denver Nuggets.

During the 2015–16 season, Thompson continued to be a valuable player. He was good at offense and a decent defender. Even though his shooting numbers dropped a little, he was still the team's best long-range shooter. He averaged career highs in points (9.8) and rebounds (3.5) per game. In the last game of the season, on April 13, 2016, he scored 21 points against the Chicago Bulls.

The 76ers kept Thompson for the 2016–17 season. However, they later let him go on January 4, 2017. Hollis Thompson is currently 6th all-time in 76ers history for three-point field goal percentage (38.9%).

Playing for Austin and New Orleans (2017)

After leaving the 76ers, Thompson joined the Windy City Bulls in the NBA G League on January 24, 2017. The next day, he was traded to the Austin Spurs. On February 23, 2017, he signed a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. He signed a second 10-day contract on March 5. After these contracts ended, Thompson went back to play for Austin. He averaged 14.4 points per game for Austin during the 2016–17 season. He shot 44% from the three-point line.

Playing Overseas with Olympiacos (2017–2018)

On August 10, 2017, Hollis Thompson signed a one-year contract with Olympiacos, a basketball club in Greece. He played for them until May 5, 2018.

Back in the G-League (2018–2020)

On December 17, 2018, the Northern Arizona Suns acquired Thompson's rights. He officially joined the team the next day. During the 2018–19 G-League season, he averaged 16.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He shot 35% from three-point range and 80% from the free-throw line.

In April 2019, Thompson signed with Crailsheim Merlins, another team. Later that year, on October 11, 2019, he signed with the Sacramento Kings for their training camp. He was then sent to their G League team, the Stockton Kings.
