History of Holly Pond
Holly Pond was first settled in the 1840s. Its name comes from two natural ponds. These ponds were surrounded by many holly trees.
The community grew in the 1850s. People expected a railroad to be built there. By 1888, the town had its own post office.
Geography and Location
Holly Pond is in the eastern part of Cullman County. You can find it at these coordinates: 34°10′29″N 86°37′1″W / 34.17472°N 86.61694°W.
The town's center is where U.S. Route 278 and State Route 91 meet. The land here is about 870 feet (265 meters) above sea level.

Holly Pond High School
This is the main high school for students in grades 9 through 12. In 2022, about 338 students attended the school. The principal is Janet Turner.
The school's sports teams are called the Broncos. They compete in AHSAA Class 2A athletics.
Holly Pond Middle School
This school is for students in grades 6 through 8. It was started in 2008 by the Cullman County Board of Education.
Holly Pond Elementary School
This school serves younger students from kindergarten to fifth grade. Karen Sparks is the current principal of the elementary school.

- Guy Hunt was born and lived in Holly Pond. He was a former Governor of Alabama. He was also a Primitive Baptist pastor.
