The Holmesburg Athletic Club was a professional football team. They were based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The team played from about 1915 until 1923. They were known for claiming the Philadelphia City Championship in both 1919 and 1920.
Famous Players
Many talented players were part of the Holmesburg Athletic Club. Some even became famous later in their careers.
Lou Little
In 1915, a player named Lou Little was on the Holmesburg team. He was a college All-American football player from the University of Pennsylvania. To protect his status as a college player, he played under the name "Lou Small." Later, Lou Little played for other professional teams, including the Buffalo All-Americans in the National Football League. He also had a very successful career as a football coach at Georgetown and Columbia universities.

In 1919, two other well-known athletes played for the team:
- Bert Yeabsley: He was a pinch hitter for the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team.
- John B. Kelly Sr.: He was an amazing rower who won three Olympic gold medals in sculling.
Later, in 1921, Benny Boynton played briefly for Holmesburg. This was for a Thanksgiving Day game against the Union Quakers of Philadelphia. Stan Cofall also played for the team during its time.
