A Look Back: Holtzinger's History
Holtzinger has an interesting past! In 1917, this area was first known as Earle Spur. This name came from a special train track, called a spur. This track was part of the Northern Pacific Railway's Cowiche branch. It led right to the Earle Fruit Company Warehouse.
Then, in April 1927, the railroad decided to change the name. They renamed the area Holtzinger. This new name honored C. M. Holtzinger. He was the owner of the warehouse at that time. He also owned the Holtzinger Company, which was located in Yakima.
