Holy Trinity Church is a beautiful old church located in Wentworth, South Yorkshire, England. It belongs to the Church of England. This church is very special because it is a Grade II* listed building. This means it is an important historical building that needs to be protected.
History of the Church
The church was built by William Wentworth-Fitzwilliam, 6th Earl Fitzwilliam. He wanted to build it to remember his parents. Building work started in 1872. A famous architect named John Loughborough Pearson designed the church.
The church was finished in 1876. It was officially opened on July 31, 1877, by the Archbishop of York. When this new church opened, the older Holy Trinity Church in Wentworth closed down.
Beautiful Stained Glass Windows
Holy Trinity Church has amazing stained glass windows. These windows tell stories using colorful glass.
- The window on the east side was made in 1888 by a company called Clayton and Bell.
- The window on the west side was created by an artist named Charles Eamer Kempe.
The Church Organ
