History of Homeacre-Lyndora
Early Transportation: Trolley Lines
Back in 1908, the area known as Lyndora was connected to nearby towns like Butler, Evans City, and even the big city of Pittsburgh. This connection was made possible by a special type of train called an interurban trolley line. Think of it like an old-fashioned electric bus that ran on tracks between cities.
This trolley line was called the Pittsburgh, Harmony, Butler and New Castle Railway. It made it much easier for people to travel and for goods to be moved around. However, these trolleys stopped running on June 15, 1931. After that, buses took over as the main way to get around.
