In 2016, something amazing happened. This stall became one of the very first street food places in the world to win a Michelin star. A Michelin star is a very high award for restaurants that serve excellent food. While it lost its star in 2021, its fame helped it grow. Now, Hawker Chan has become a global chain with restaurants in many countries.

The most famous dish at Hawker Chan is its special soy sauce chicken served with rice. This dish is so popular that the stall sells about 150 chicken meals for lunch each day! Back in 2016, one of these tasty dishes cost only S$2, which is a very low price for such famous food.
The stall itself looks like many others in Singapore's hawker centres. It has a bright neon sign and rows of cooked chickens hanging up. After becoming famous, Chef Chan opened a bigger restaurant. This restaurant is called Hawker Chan Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle and is located at 78 Smith Street.
