Horqueta (Guarani: Orkéta) is a city in Paraguay. It is part of the Concepción department. The city is about 50 kilometers from Concepción City. It is also 428 kilometers from Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. Horqueta is built on a hill.

A Brief History of Horqueta
Horqueta started as a small chapel in the 1700s. It was officially founded in 1793. This city was special because it was the first in Paraguay to have a street just for people walking. Today, Horqueta is the second most important city in the Concepción department.

Farming is the most important activity in Horqueta. Farmers grow many crops like cotton, spurge, beans, manioc (cassava), and corn. They also grow different kinds of fruits.
The city is known as the "National Capital of Ka’a He’e." This is a special plant used as a natural sweetener.

About 45 kilometers from Concepción, you can find Paso Horqueta. It is located on the banks of the Aquidabán River. This place has beautiful white sand beaches. It is perfect for camping and enjoying nature. There is also a large and interesting wooden bridge over the river called the Bridge Paso Horqueta.
