Horseshoe Bay is a beautiful bay, town, and suburb located on Magnetic Island in Queensland, Australia. It's part of the City of Townsville. This area is a very popular spot for tourists and a great place to relax and have fun. Many people come here to enjoy the beach and the lovely scenery. A Glimpse into Horseshoe Bay's Past
Before 1962, this town was known by a different name: Bee-Ran. It's interesting how places can change their names over time!
The Horseshoe Bay Post Office opened in 1935. Before that, a local person had been helping with mail for 11 years without pay. The post office eventually closed in 1982.
A school called Horseshoe Bay Provisional School started on July 1, 1949. It later became Horseshoe Bay State School in 1954. However, this school closed its doors on April 28, 1972. It was located on Heath Street.
Starting in September 2006, new houses began to be built behind the existing homes in the southern part of the bay. This helped the area grow even more.
