Police Services
Since 2013, the Izard County Sheriff's office has been responsible for police duties in Horseshoe Bend. The city's own police department was no longer active after that year.
Fire Department
The Horseshoe Bend Volunteer Fire Department is made up of 12 volunteers. They protect about 45 square miles of homes, businesses, and natural areas. Their important jobs include putting out fires, helping people get out of crashed vehicles, dealing with dangerous materials, and performing rescues.
The department has several vehicles. These include a fire engine, a water tanker, a quick-attack vehicle for brush fires, and an emergency rescue vehicle. They have a good rating from the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), which shows how well-prepared they are.
Animal Control
The city's Animal Control team takes care of lost dogs and cats. They have a special place where these animals are kept. The staff and volunteers hope to reunite pets with their owners. Lost pets are held for five days to give owners time to find them. If a pet is adopted, it must be spayed or neutered and vaccinated. Groups like "Friends of Horseshoe Bend Animals" can help with these costs.
City Library
The Horseshoe Bend Library first opened in 1974. Before that, a bookmobile service brought books to the area starting in 1970. The library was originally located in the Municipal Building. In 2006, it moved to a new building on Club Road.
The library serves the city and nearby areas. It offers many resources, including audio and visual equipment, computers with Internet access, a meeting room, and traditional books. The "Friends of the Library" group helps support the library. The library grounds are cared for by the Izard County Master Gardeners.
