Hossein Sheikholeslam (Persian: حسین شیخ الاسلام; born November 29, 1952 – died March 5, 2020) was an important Iranian politician and diplomat. He was known for his conservative views. He worked as an advisor to the foreign minister, Javad Zarif.
Sheikholeslam also served as a member of the Seventh Iranian Parliament. Before that, he was Iran's ambassador to Syria. He also helped the parliament's Speaker, Ali Larijani, with international matters. Hossein Sheikholeslam was part of a group of students who took over the US embassy in Tehran during a time of political tension in 1979. He passed away on March 5, 2020, due to COVID-19.
