Hostiaz (pronounced "oss-tee-ah") was once a small commune in eastern France. A commune is like a small town or village with its own local government. Hostiaz was located in the Ain department. A department is similar to a county or a state in other countries.
On January 1, 2019, Hostiaz joined with other nearby communes. It became part of a new, larger commune called Plateau d'Hauteville. This means Hostiaz no longer exists as a separate commune.
Where is Hostiaz?
Hostiaz is found in the eastern part of France. It is part of the Ain department. This area is known for its beautiful landscapes.
A Changing Community
For many years, Hostiaz was its own independent commune. But sometimes, small towns decide to join together. This can help them share resources and services. It can also make their local government stronger.
In 2019, Hostiaz merged with other places. These included Hauteville-Lompnes, Cormaranche-en-Bugey, and Lompnieu. Together, they formed the new commune of Plateau d'Hauteville.
How Many People Live There?
The number of people living in Hostiaz has changed over time. Even though it is now part of a larger commune, we can still look at its past population.
