Hot Wheels: AcceleRacers is a series of four computer-animated films. They were made in 2005 by a Canadian company called Mainframe Entertainment. This company also created the TV show ReBoot. You could find these films on DVD and VHS. They also aired on Cartoon Network.

This series is a follow-up to the 2003 miniseries Hot Wheels: World Race. It takes place two years after the World Race in California. The story features Hot Wheels toy cars in a situation similar to ReBoot. The racing style might remind you of games like Mario Kart. Warner Bros. Television helped distribute the films. The music for the series was handled by Sony BMG. There was also a collectible card game and other cool toys made for the series.

Cartoon Network showed four special episodes in 2005. These were Ignition (January 8), The Speed of Silence (March 19), Breaking Point (June 25), and The Ultimate Race (October 1).

The Story of AcceleRacers

The story begins when Dr. Peter Tezla makes an amazing discovery. He finds out that the Wheel of Power is a special gateway. This gateway leads to incredible new places called the Racing Realms.

Dr. Tezla decides to put together two racing teams. These teams are called The Teku and The Metal Maniacs.

Meet the Teams

  • The Teku team includes:
    • Nolo Passoro, who is their leader.
    • Karma Eiss.
    • Shirako Takamoto.
    • Kurt Wylde and Vert Wheeler, who were also in the World Race.
  • The Metal Maniacs team includes:

The Racing Challenge

These teams enter the Racing Realms to compete in dangerous races. Their main goal is to win special items called Accelechargers. But it's not an easy race. They have to compete against two tough groups. One group is the Racing Drones, led by Gelorum. The other group is a mysterious team known as The Silencerz.
