Hoting is a small town, or "locality," in Sweden. It is located in a part of Sweden called Jämtland County, within the Strömsund Municipality. In 2010, about 667 people lived there.

Hoting has a long history! It was first mentioned in official papers way back in 1273. These documents were about deciding the border between Sweden and Norway.

What's the Weather Like in Hoting?

Hoting has a type of weather called a subarctic climate. This means it has long, cold winters and short, mild summers.

Even though Hoting is far north in Jämtland, it's also far from the big oceans like the Atlantic. This makes its climate more "continental." This means it can have warmer summers than other places nearby, like Östersund, even if Östersund is further south.

Winters in Hoting are quite cold for Sweden. This is because it's far from the warming effects of the North Atlantic Ocean and the Bothnian Bay.
