Huamashraju is a tall and impressive mountain located in the Andes mountains of Peru. It stands about 5,434 meters (17,828 feet) high, which is taller than many famous skyscrapers! This mountain is part of the Cordillera Blanca, a stunning range known for its snowy peaks.
You can find Huamashraju in the Ancash Region of Peru, specifically in the Huaraz Province. It sits just east of the city of Huaraz. The mountain has a few other names too, like Wamashraju, Yanahuacra, and Rajo Colta. Some of these names come from the Quechua language, which is spoken by many people in the Andes. For example, Yanahuacra might mean "black horn."

First Climbers
The first time people successfully climbed to the top of Huamashraju was in 1954. Two climbers named J. Cabana and A. Soriano made this amazing first ascent. Climbing mountains like Huamashraju requires a lot of skill and courage.
