About the Hudson Bay Wolf

Discovery and Description

Scientists first officially recognized the Hudson Bay wolf as its own unique type in 1941. A scientist named Edward Alphonso Goldman described it. He said it was a medium-sized wolf with white fur. It looked a bit like the Arctic wolf, but its head was flatter.

Scientific Recognition

Today, the Hudson Bay wolf is still considered a distinct subspecies of Canis lupus. This means it's a specific kind of gray wolf. It is listed in an important science book called Mammal Species of the World (2005).
