Humayun Faridi (born Humayun Kamrul Islam; 29 May 1952 – 13 February 2012) was a very famous Bangladeshi actor. He was known for his amazing acting in TV shows, movies, and plays. He even won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor for his role in the movie Matritto in 2004. After he passed away, he was given the Ekushey Padak in 2018, which is a big honor from the Government of Bangladesh.

Who Was Humayun Faridi?
Humayun Faridi was a talented actor from Bangladesh. He was born in Narinda, Dhaka, on May 29, 1952. His parents were ATM Nurul Islam and Begum Farida Islam. He was the second of five children in his family.
His Early Life and Education
Faridi went to Islamia Government High School and finished his SSC exam in 1968. Then, in 1970, he completed his HSC from Chandpur Government College. He started studying organic chemistry at the University of Dhaka. However, his studies were interrupted by the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. He bravely joined the war as a freedom fighter. After the war, he went to Jahangirnagar University to study economics. There, he became good friends with a well-known playwright named Selim Al-Deen.
Becoming an Actor: His Career Journey
Humayun Faridi's acting journey began when he was discovered by a playwright named Nasiruddin Yousuff. Yousuff saw Faridi perform in a play at Jahangirnagar University that Faridi had written, directed, and acted in himself. This was a big moment for his career!
Starting in Theatre
Faridi was a key organizer of the 1976 Drama Festival at Jahangirnagar University. He later joined a famous theatre group called the Dhaka Theatre. His first theatre role was in 1978 in a play called Shakuntala, where he played the character Tokkhok. He also performed in other plays like Phoni Monsha (1980), Kirtankhola (1981), and Keramat Mangal (1985). His last theatre performance was in the mid-1990s in a play called Bhut.
Moving to Television Dramas
Faridi started acting in television dramas in 1982 with a show called Nil Nakshar Shandaney. He became very popular on TV and acted in many memorable dramas. Some of his famous TV roles were in Bhangorer Shobdo Shuni, Songsoptok (1987–88), Pathar Shomoy (1989), Kothao Keu Nei (1992–93), and Doll's House (2007–08).
Acting in Films
Humayun Faridi also became a well-known film actor. His first movie was Din-Mojur, directed by Shahidul Islam Khokon. He acted in many other films, including Shantrash, Top Rongbaz, and Bish Daat. He was known for playing many different types of characters on screen.
His Family Life
In 1980, Humayun Faridi married Nazmun Ara Begum Minu. They had a daughter named Shararat Islam Devyani. They later divorced after four years. After that, he married another actress, Suborna Mustafa. They were married until 2008.
His Final Days
Humayun Faridi passed away on February 13, 2012, at his home. He had been suffering from a long-term lung disease. He is remembered as one of Bangladesh's most talented and beloved actors.
