Suborna Mustafa (born 2 December 1959) is a well-known actress from Bangladesh. She has starred in many TV shows, films, and stage plays. She also served as a member of the Jatiya Sangsad (Bangladesh Parliament) from 2019 to 2024. She is a member of the Bangladesh Awami League political party.
Suborna Mustafa is famous for her roles in TV dramas like Kothao Keu Nei (1990) and Aaj Robibar (1999). She has won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress twice. These awards were for her work in the films Notun Bou (1983) and Gohin Baluchor (2017). In 2019, the Government of Bangladesh honored her with the Ekushey Padak for her contributions to culture.

Her Early Life
Suborna Mustafa was born on December 2, 1959. Her birthplace was Dopdopiya Union, in Jhalokati District. Her father, Golam Mustafa, was also a famous actor in films and on television. Her mother, Husne Ara Mustafa, worked as a radio producer. She worked for All India Radio, Radio Pakistan, and Bangladesh Betar. Suborna has a sister named Camelia Mustafa. She spent most of her childhood at her grandparents' house in Dhaka. She went to school at Viqarunnisa Noon School.
Becoming an Actress
Suborna Mustafa started her acting career on television. Her first TV drama was Baraf Gala Nadi. This show was based on a novel by Zahir Raihan. She also acted in Rokte Angur Lata with Afzal Hossain. She was part of Shilpi, which was the first-ever package drama series on Bangladesh Television. This series was directed by Mamunur Rashid.
She played a main character in the TV drama Dolls House. This show aired on ATN Bangla from 2007 to 2009.
Suborna also started acting on stage. Her first stage play was Jaundice O Bibidho Balloon. Later, she also began directing. Her first time directing was for a single TV episode called Akash Kushum in 2009.
Her Film Career
Suborna Mustafa made her film debut in Ghuddi in 1980. In 1984, she starred in Noyoner Alo alongside Zafar Iqbal. She has acted in many other films. Some of these include Lal Shobujer Pala, Palabi Kothay, and Shonkhonil Karagar.
Beyond Acting
Besides acting, Suborna Mustafa is a big fan of cricket. Since 2015, she has worked as a commentator for Radio Bhumi. She also helps select films for the National Film Awards. She does this as a member of the Censor Board.

Her Personal Life
In 1984, Suborna Mustafa married Humayun Faridi. He was also a famous Bangladeshi actor. They later divorced in 2008. In July 2008, she married Badrul Anam Saud. He was a co-director for the TV show Dolls House. She is known as one of the most famous actresses in Bangladesh.
