Huntingwood is a suburb located in Western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is mostly known for its many businesses and factories. Huntingwood is part of the City of Blacktown, which is a large local government area.
Where Did the Name Huntingwood Come From?
The name Huntingwood has an interesting story! It's a combination of two ideas. People say that the first English-style hunting in the area happened here. Also, a family named Woods owned a large piece of land here for almost 100 years. This land was known as the 'Woods Estate'. So, 'Hunting' and 'Wood' were put together to create the suburb's name.
Getting Around: Transport in Huntingwood
Huntingwood is a great place for businesses because it has easy access to major roads. The M4 and Westlink M7 motorways are very close by. These big roads help trucks and cars move goods and people all around Sydney.
Because of this easy access, many large companies have chosen Huntingwood for their transport and logistics centers. For example, big stores like Coles Myer and Woolworths Limited have important facilities here. They use the nearby roads to move products from their warehouses to stores across the region.
Big Businesses and Manufacturing
Huntingwood is also a hub for manufacturing. This means that some companies make their products here. In 2014, a company called Diageo decided to move its bottling operations to Huntingwood. They used to bottle Bundaberg Rum in Queensland. This move meant that the bottling work would now happen in Western Sydney.
