Hurstbourne Acres is found in the eastern part of Jefferson County. It shares borders with several other communities. To the southeast is Forest Hills. To the east and south, it borders Jeffersontown. To the north and west, it's next to the larger Louisville/Jefferson County area.
A major highway, Interstate 64, passes just north of the city. You can get to Hurstbourne Acres from Exit 15, which leads to Hurstbourne Parkway. The center of Louisville is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) to the west.
