The Parish Church of la Asunción is a Catholic church. You can find it in Albaida, a town in the Valencian Community in Spain. It is considered an important local building.

History of the Church
The church's story began a long time ago. A church was first started here in the 13th century. The building you see today was built much later. Workers built it between 1592 and 1621.
What Style is It?
The church was built in the Valencian Gothic style. This style was popular in the Valencia region. It replaced an older church from the 13th century. The church was also fixed up in 1830.
What Does the Church Look Like?
The church has one main open space inside, called a nave. It also has smaller rooms called chapels along the sides. These chapels are built between strong supports called buttresses.
Outside the Church
The front of the church, called the facade, looks simple. It has two beautiful doors built in the Renaissance style. There is also a tall, thin bell tower. This tower was once used as a watch tower. Later, in the mid-1800s, a special top part was added to it.
Inside the Church
Inside the chapels, you can see many interesting things. There are sculptures in the Baroque Revival architecture style. You can also find a special bed from the 17th century. The baptismal font, where people are baptized, is made of marble and is from the 18th century.
Art and Treasures
The church has many oil paintings by an artist named Josep Segrelles. These paintings are found near the altar. Segrelles also painted religious scenes from Albaida. You can see these paintings between the arches of the chapels. They are also along the top edge, called the cornice, of the main nave.
Segrelles also painted the Chapel Royal of the Communion. This is a building next to the church from the 19th century. The sacristy, which is a room where priests prepare, holds many fancy decorations. These decorations are from the 15th to the 20th centuries. One special item is a reliquary, which is a container for holy objects. It is made of Gothic silverware and might be from the 15th century.
