Indian Village is a small community located in Noble County, Indiana. It is an unincorporated community, which means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. This community was once known as Alcinda.

History of Indian Village

Indian Village has an interesting past. A post office was opened here in 1867. This helped people send and receive mail. However, the post office closed down in 1888.

This community is also famous for being the home of a significant leader. Chief Papakeecha of the Miami tribe lived here. He stayed in a one-story brick house from 1827 to 1834. This area was part of an Indian reservation, which was land set aside for Native American tribes.
