The Adjutant General of Indiana is a very important leader. They are in charge of Indiana's military forces. These forces include the Indiana National Guard and the Indiana Guard Reserve. Sometimes, they also lead the Indiana Naval Militia. This person is often called 'TAG' for short.

The Adjutant General works for the state of Indiana. They are not part of the national military. They report directly to the Governor of Indiana. The governor chooses who will be the Adjutant General. This person serves as long as the governor does. To be the Adjutant General, you must be a high-ranking officer. You need to be at least a Brigadier General (BG) or higher.
