Infinity Train is an American animated TV show created by Owen Dennis. He used to be a writer and storyboard artist for Regular Show. A short preview (called a pilot) for the series came out on November 1, 2016.
People really liked it, so it was turned into a full miniseries that started on Cartoon Network on August 5, 2019. After the first season, Cartoon Network said the show would continue as an anthology series. This means each season tells a new story with different main characters.
The second season started on Cartoon Network on January 6, 2020. The third season then moved to HBO Max and began on August 13, 2020. Ten episodes were released over three weeks.
The show takes place on a huge, mysterious, and seemingly endless train. This train travels through a plain, empty land. Each car on the train has strange, magical, and impossible environments inside. People who get on the train have to complete challenges. These challenges help them work through their personal problems and feelings.
Every season of Infinity Train is called a "Book" and has its own subtitle. Each Book follows a different story and set of characters. However, they all happen in the same world, and some characters appear in different seasons. Often, a small character from an earlier season becomes a main character in a new one.
All three seasons of Infinity Train have been highly praised. People love their deep themes, interesting characters, unique stories, cool animation, and great voice acting. In August 2020, Owen Dennis said he wanted to make more seasons. But many of the crew had been let go, and the show might not continue. Dennis thought HBO Max might worry the show's stories were too dark for kids. However, a fourth and final season was announced on February 17, 2021.

What Infinity Train is About
The series happens on a train that seems to go on forever. It travels through a plain, empty land. The train's cars are full of strange and magical places. The passengers on the train are people who have problems or feelings they need to work through.
As they travel through the train's cars, their adventures help them face and solve their issues. A glowing number on their hand shows how much progress they are making. This number goes down as they deal with their problems. Once their number reaches zero, a special door opens. They can then leave the train and go back home.
Book 1: The Perennial Child
The first season is about Tulip Olsen, a 13-year-old girl. She is dealing with her parents' recent divorce. Tulip is joined by a small, confused robot named One-One. She also meets Atticus, the king of a land of talking corgis.
Tulip discovers many of the train's secrets. She faces Amelia, a passenger who took over as the Conductor from One-One. Amelia wanted to control the train to try and bring back her husband. Before leaving the train, Tulip helps Amelia see that she needs to accept changes in her life.
Book 2: Cracked Reflection
In one episode of the first season, Tulip helps her own reflection become free from the mirror world. They then go their separate ways. The second season focuses on Mirror Tulip ("MT"). She is now on the run from police who want to stop her for leaving her role as Tulip's reflection.
MT teams up with Jesse, a new train passenger. They are also joined by Alan Dracula, a quiet deer with many special powers. MT helps Jesse leave the train by teaching him to stand up for himself. Jesse then returns to the train to help MT escape to the outside world too.
Book 3: Cult of the Conductor
The third season is about Grace and Simon. They are the leaders of a group of passengers called the Apex. This group causes trouble on the train and attacks its creatures to keep their numbers high.
Grace travels with a young girl named Hazel and her gorilla friend, Tuba. This journey makes Grace care more about the train's creatures. After Simon hurts Tuba, it is revealed that Hazel is actually one of Amelia's creations. Grace then realizes that what she thought about the train was wrong.
Simon, however, refuses to change his mind. After Grace stops his attempt to take control, she starts to face and fix her own mistakes.
Book 4: Duet
The fourth season will be about Ryan and Min-Gi. They are two best friends from Canada. They both dream of becoming famous musicians.

The Future of Infinity Train
On August 16, 2020, Owen Dennis said that the team wanted to make more episodes. However, production had stopped for a while. The whole crew had been let go and found new jobs. Dennis said that more episodes would depend on how many people watched the show on HBO Max.
Dennis mentioned he has ideas for several more seasons if the show continues. He wants to explore the train's history more. Maybe even go back to a time before trains existed. Dennis also said, "We have rough ideas for themes and which characters we'd like to follow for five more seasons, up to season eight. Eight feels like a good place to stop because it looks like an infinity symbol."
When asked what else he would like to do with Infinity Train, Dennis said he would love to make a movie about Amelia's story. She was the main bad guy from season one. He also wants to do stories about other time periods on the train. Dennis also thought about making Infinity Train comic books. These comics would be part of the show's official story.
On March 11, 2021, it was announced that Infinity Train would end with its fourth season. Dennis later explained on Twitter that he didn't plan for this to be the last season. He is still open to continuing the show in the future if he gets the chance.
