Geography

History

Ingleside used to be home to a large naval base called Naval Station Ingleside. This base was an important part of the community for many years. However, in 2005, a special commission decided to close the base. By 2010, the main part of the base was given to the Port of Corpus Christi. This port is a big center for shipping and trade.

Arts and Culture

The Ingleside Public Library is a great place for learning and fun. It has many books, movies, and music. You can also use computers and access online services there.

Education

Most students in Ingleside attend schools in the Ingleside Independent School District. A small number of students go to schools in the Aransas Pass Independent School District.

Sports History

Ingleside also has a special connection to sports history. A famous football coach named Emory Bellard started his coaching career at Ingleside High School. He coached there from 1952 to 1954. During his time, he led the Mustangs football team to win what was like a state championship in both 1953 and 1954. Coach Bellard is also known for creating the "wishbone offense," a special way of playing football.

For students who want to continue their education after high school, Del Mar College is the designated community college for all of Nueces and San Patricio counties.
